KFC Add Hope is KFC’s new Corporate Social Responsibility initiative being launched globally this year. KFC cares about the Community in which it serves and most importantly cares about world hunger and how it affects many people around the world. Add Hope’s aim is to highlight and drive action in the movement to end world hunger by increasing money raised annually for the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) and other hunger relief agencies around the globe, and encouraging volunteerism.
Yum! Brands’ originally launched this World Hunger Relief effort in 2007 and to date 1.5 million of the Company’s employees, franchisees and their families have volunteered millions of hours to aid these hunger relief efforts in communities worldwide. The effort has raised $600 million for WFP and other hunger relief organizations and is helping to provide 2.4 billion meals to the WFP and save the lives of millions of people in remote corners of the world.
We understand, however, that hunger has no borders. Hunger affects nearly one billion people around the world every day. As the KFC brand, addressing the issue of hunger on a global scale is a natural fit as a global food service company. With your help, we can make a huge impact and help end hunger around the world. Together we can Add Hope.
WFP is the largest humanitarian agency fighting hunger worldwide. Each year, on average, WFP feeds more than 80.9 million people in more than 75 countries.
WFP’s life-saving programs provide safety nets and mother-child health programs in extreme situations. They are not just providing a hand out, but rather a hand up:
- helping villages and communities lift themselves from chronic malnutrition by helping build infrastructures (roads, bridges, schools, medical clinics) in exchange for food.
- providing food and resources to build self-sustaining communities in the most impoverished corners of the world.
- provide school feeding, using as platform for nutritional interventions.
World Food Programme has the resources and track record of making a tremendous impact in hunger relief all around the world. WFP has helped in recent crises such as:
- Earthquake victims in Haiti
- Flood survivors in Nepal
- Cyclone Nargis survivors in Myanmar
- Hurricane Felix survivors in Nicaragua
- Peru earthquake survivors
- Refugees from the Darfur region
We recognize the crisis of hunger in the U.S. and beyond and we are obligated by a sense of responsibility to end hunger in the communities in which we live and work, and for the greater good of global society. The power and reach of our global system of restaurants, committed franchisees, employees and vendors enables us to interact with millions of customers every day. We have an amazing opportunity to engage millions of people who visit a KFC to join us adding hope to end world hunger.

No. Your donation goes directly to feeding people who would otherwise be faced with the possibility of not having anything to eat. Funds donated by customers during World Hunger month every year in October will directly support the greatest needs of WFP's food relief programs in the least developed nations around the world as well as local hunger work being done in various countries. The Yum! Foundation will make a matching contribution of all consumer funds raised during World Hunger Relief to cover WFP's global administrative fees ($2 million).
